Artist Statement:
Imagination, whimsy, and a meditative quality are all elements of my artwork. Taking you down the rabbit hole, my work actualizes other worlds and realms, that are manifestations of my subconscious mindscapes. Creating a visual pool the viewer can dive into and swim around, taking viewers on a conceptual journey that sparks the imaginative fire. My work ranges from extreme realism to organic abstraction, using mediums including watercolor, acrylic, oil, marker, photography, collage, pencil, digital manipulation, and computer filters. Usually I draw first with marker, then digitize it, then digitally color and add filters to the piece.
My work is influenced by artwork that distorts perception, optical illustions, pop art, surreal art, celtic knot work, geometric patterns, tribal decorations, patterns in nature, strange animals, meditative mandalas, and Australian aboriginal paintings.
Inspired and encouraged by my artist mother, I began learning to draw and paint at a young age. I received my B.F.A. in art and design at Framingham State College, and studied animation at Massachusetts College of Art. A consummate seeker of growth, I am always stretching my creative limits and learning new techniques, by attending numerous creative workshops. With 18 years as a commercial Art Director, Illustrator, and Graphic Designer, I have the corporate experience to understand printing processes, as well as design software.
My work is available for product licensing and commission. Original artwork and giclee prints can be purchased, please contact me to inquire.
